St. Patrick's Day Re-routes affecting Routes 10-14

St. Patrick’s Day Parade Reroutes The following reroutes will be in effect for afternoon commuters on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Routes 10, 11 These routes will not have a staging area on Rockwell. Passengers will have to catch the bus at any RTA stop on St. Clair between East Ninth and West Third. Routes 12 and 14 - 3:30 departure only 3:30 Route 12 and 3:30 Route 14 passengers will have to board at any RTA stop on Saint Clair between East 18th and West 3rd. All other Route 12 and Route 14 departures will follow the usual routing. Route 13 No Changes

Federal Building Stop being Moved Effective April 6

The RTA Federal Building stop on Lakeside is being moved closer to East 9th Street. For safety reasons, effective Monday, April 6, 2009, Laketran will no longer use this stop. Please use either the East 6th or East 9th Street stops.

Fare Increases and Service Adjustments Effective July 1, 2009

New fares go into effect July 1, 2009 along with several service adjustments as follows.

Fare increases effective July 1, 2009:

Dial-a-Ride Regular Fare $10
Dial-a-Ride Senior/Disabled/Child Under 12 $2.50
Fixed Route Regular $1.75
Fixed Route Senior/Disabled/Child Under 12 $0.75
Commuter Express Regular $3.75
Commuter Express Monthly Pass $135
Commuter Express Student 10-Ride Ticket $15

All out-of-county Dial-a-Ride medical trips will be twice the base fare.
All multi-ride tickets will be for 10-Rides only.

Commuter Route changes:
Rt 14 - 5:35am departure will be eliminated
Rt 14 - 6:15am departure changed to 6:00am
Rt 12 - 7:10am departure will be eliminated
Rt 12 - 6:30am departure will change to 6:45am
Rt 12- 4:40pm and 5:00pm departures will be consolidated into a new single departure time of 4:55pm

Laketran will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day. Effective July 1, 2009, the agency will close on all federally observed holidays.

State Rt 306 Ramp Closure

The eastbound ramps for State Rt 306 are closed until late July according to ODOT.
Laketran Rt 10 buses will initially follow their normal evening routing to the Market St. Park-n-Ride.
If the SR 615 eastbound ramp becomes too congested and backed up due to the SR 306 closure, the Route 10 buses will begin to use I-90 to SR 615, then travel north on SR 615 to Market St.

Partial Ticket Upgrade for July 2009 Fare Increase

Laketran riders with partially used tickets may upgrade them to the new fare media that will be used effective July 1, 2009.
Riders will need to mail in exact payment in the form of a check or money order, or exchange them in person at Laketran headquarters located at 555 Lakeshore Blvd, Painesville, OH 44077. Exchange hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am until 4 pm. Laketran is closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of the July 4th holiday.

To determine payment amount needed find the corresponding ticket description and number of holes punched in your existing ticket on theExchange/Upgrade Chart. Please allow adequate time for receipt and delivery via U.S.Postal Service.

The 3:20 and 4:20 Route 12 and the 3:10 Route 14 passengers will have to board at any RTA stop on the north side of St. Clair between East 18th and West 3rd. All other Route 12 departures will follow the usual routing.

The 4:10 and 4:55 Route 14 departures will follow the usual routing until East 9th and Rockwell (no layover on Rockwell) continue East 9th to St. Clair. Passengers will have to catch the bus at any RTA stops on the north side of St. Clair between East 9th and West 3rd.

A truck overturned on Dead Mans Curve. This curve is closed both east and west.
Laketran is redirecting Cleveland Express buses inbound to Cleveland taking either E-55, or if the inbound traffic flow is good, are using East Ninth and then go to their starting points.

Laketran Express buses, on the outbound back to Lake County, will all be using either West Third or East Ninth Street to return (east bound.)

Drivers are being released early to head downtown.

Public Square Closing- July 1 Afternoon ONLY

Laketran’s Route 3 Mentor, Willoughby and Willowick cannot traverse Lakeshore Blvd. between Lost Nation Road and SOM Center (Rt. 91) because of flooding along Lakeshore Blvd. (detour – Lost Nation Road to Vine Street to SOM Center to Lakeshore).

Laketran’s Route 3 also cannot travel south of Tyler Boulevard on Route 306 due to flooding (detour – Tyler Boulevard to Center Street to Mentor Avenue to Great Lakes Mall).”

Park-n-Ride Service to St. Patrick's Day Parade

Laketran Park-n-Rides are a great way to get downtown to Cleveland's St.Patrick's Day parade. Check out Routes 10-14 for location and times.

The following reroutes will be in effect for afternoon Routes 10-14 on Thursday, March 17, 2011.

Routes 10 and 11 - These routes will not have a staging area on Rockwell. Passengers will have to catch the bus at any RTA stop on the north side of St. Clair between East 17th and West 3rd.

Routes 12 and 14 - Early departures only.

State Budget Proposes to Slash General Revenue Funds for Public Transit by Another 33%

Governor Kasich has sent to the Ohio General Assembly his 2012/2013 budget (House Bill 153) that proposes to reduce general revenue funds for public transit from $10,871,000 to $7,300,000 a year – a 33% cut.
If the Ohio General Assembly adopts the Governor’s proposed budget, the State of Ohio will have slashed its investment in public transit from $44.32 million in 2000 to $7.3 million in 2012 --- a whopping cut of 83%.

Please let our state representatives know that while we all are painfully aware of the state’s financial situation, these continuing cuts unfarily target people who are dependent on public transit to get to work, medical appointments, higher education and shopping for essential goods and services.

Routes 12 & 13 will travel Chester (west) to E. 12th (north) to St. Clair (west) and continue normal routing.

Routes 14 will travel Chester (west) to E. 12th (north) to Rockwell (west) and continue normal routing.

All stops on E. 9th between Chester and St. Clair will be closed to buses.

Customers normally catching Laketran on E.9th bus stops can catch Laketran on E. 12th (between Chester and St. Clair).

All Cleveland evening departures may be 20 minutes or more delayed due to a car accident and highway closure on Route 2 westbound in Willoughby. Buses are being re-routed via Interstate 90.

Due to another movie filming, from Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Friday, Sept. 9 Lakeside Ave. will be closed between W. 3rd to E. 9th. Stops between W. 3rd and E. 9th will be out of service. The E. 9th stop north of Lakeside will be out of service, too.

Routes that normally leave Cleveland from E. 9th will leave Cleveland from the W. 3rd exit.

Lakeside Ave. bus stops remain closed to Routes 10-14

Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve Service Notice

Laketran will close early on Christmas Eve Saturday, December 24, 2011 and New Year’s Eve Saturday, December 31, 2011.

The last fixed route service starts at 5:00pm and ends at 6:00pm.

The last Dial-a-Ride pick up will start at 5:00 pm.

Laketran is closed on Monday, December 26, 2011 and Monday, January 2, 2012 in observance of the holidays.
